About Us

Every piece at the Amrapali Museum is more than art - it’s a narrative of culture, community, and the enduring spirit of Indian artisans.

In the early 1980s, as young college friends, we set out on a journey across India to immerse ourselves in its art and cultural soul. During these travels, the unique jewelry worn by tribal communities and the intriguing objects exchanged in bustling markets captured our attention. What began as a simple exploration evolved into a profound and lifelong passion for India’s decorative arts, shaping the foundation of what would eventually become the Amrapali Museum. Rooted in the everyday lives of India’s people, especially its tribal communities, the Amrapali Museum offers a perspective that sets it apart. The collection showcases the extraordinary craftsmanship and creativity of Indian artisans, drawing visitors into the intricate beauty of a shared cultural heritage. This museum is a tribute to the timeless wonder of Indian art, design, and ingenuity, encapsulated in objects that tell stories of tradition and identity.
From its beginnings in Jaipur with the founding of Amrapali Jewels, our journey has been driven by a commitment to reviving the aesthetics of India’s past with a contemporary vision. Today, Indian jewelry has become a globally recognized art form, and we take pride in having played a role in revitalizing iconic genres such as Tribal, Mughal, Rajput, and Temple jewelry. Over the years, the Amrapali Museum’s collection has become a valuable resource for scholars, designers, travelers, and connoisseurs, providing inspiration and insight into India’s cultural richness. This museum is just the beginning of our endeavor to share India’s extraordinary living culture, seen across its regions, rituals, and religions. Each artifact within the collection tells a story—of craftsmanship, history, and identity. Together, they form an enduring legacy of our fascination with India and its timeless beauty.

We are dedicated to evoking a sense of wonder and discovery, offering a space where visitors can immerse themselves in the rich stories and symbolism behind India’s exquisite jewelry. Our mission is to inspire and ignite imagination, fostering a profound appreciation for the artistry, heritage, and cultural significance of these timeless treasures.

Through jewelry, we weave the stories of human connection, preserving traditions and emotions that sparkle across generations.

The museum spans two thoughtfully curated floors. The ground floor is devoted to items of adornment—silver and gold jewelry crafted for every part of the body, representing nearly every region of India. These pieces are deeply connected to life’s most significant milestones, from birth to marriage and beyond. The basement houses a treasure trove of silver objects and heirloom textiles, enriched with intricate craftsmanship and steeped in history. Here, visitors can trace the inspirations that have shaped Indian design over centuries, offering a glimpse into the boundless creativity of the nation’s artisans.
